The first week of school was pretty amazing!  With new administration on campus this year, the school has a fresh vibe about it.  We are a 1:1 Chromebook district, and we rolled out the devices early in the week.  After a fair amount of troubleshooting, the students were smiling and eager to use their Chromebooks.
Once the dust settled, I started my classroom visits.  I am working with Social Studies and Science the first cycle, 14 teachers.  I was able to make it through ten rooms, and I attended four PLCs.  I observed some students who were completely immersed in technology throughout the class period, while some classes were using paper copies to fill in notes as the teacher taught.  My first thought was, "why are they taking paper notes???"  I plan to talk about/demonstrate using KAMI, Docs, and SITE in next week's PLC meetings.
Several successes this week:  teachers seem receptive to having me in their classrooms, I was able to get into several classrooms more than once, and I remembered to take a step back and breathe every once in a while.
I met with one SS teacher on Thursday, and they were telling me about how they are glad to have me on campus this year and how much they would like to incorporate more technology in their classroom.  By 2nd period on Friday, this teacher had created Google Classroom sites for all of their classes, and had an activity uploaded  for students to complete!  The teacher was happy, the students were more engaged, and now I just need to foster their excitement for tech immersion.
Excited to see what week 2 unfolds!

  1. LeighAnn! It sounds like there is SO MUCH to celebration as far as your successes. I'm so glad your teachers have you as a resource for them this year. And I love that you're already finding quick wins for tech integration. So many +1's!
